But if you are looking for a truly one-of-a-kind dude ranch vacation, consider signing up for one of our unforgettable Specialty Weeks. Take part in a real-life cattle round-up during our Cattle Week, enjoy long days in the saddle exploring Pike National Park during Ride, Ride, Ride Week, or improve your riding skills with a professional trainer during our Horsemanship Weeks. Whichever you choose, you and your group are in store for the experience of a lifetime.
Ride, Ride, Ride Week
This specialty week is a must for the rider looking to spend long days in the saddle exploring remote wilderness areas that surround Lost Valley. Six- to eight-hour days and up are not uncommon. Sometimes rides begin at the ranch and end at the ranch; others begin with horse and riders being trailered out to the back country and riding back to the ranch. Hot baths, hot food, and soft beds complement each day of your Colorado horseback riding vacation.
Available: September 14-21, 2025

Cattle Week
Currently, we have a grazing permit to run our cow/calf pairs on around 37,000 acres of National Forest land. During the fall we offer our guests the opportunity to help us round up these cows. The riding involves all-day and half-day riding. We work until the job is done. It's an important part of our Colorado cattle ranch operation making sure that we have all of our livestock gathered and shipped in a timely manner. We love the help and fellowship provided by our guests during this week.

Horsemanship Weeks
Perfect for horse lovers wanting to learn or improve their skills in riding and understanding a horse just a little bit better, our horseback riding vacations deliver the adventure of a lifetime! We use the talents of professional horse trainers to help you better communicate with your horse, increase your riding confidence, and show you some of the prettiest country in the state. We combine individual and group instruction along with arena and trail riding to test your new skills.
Randy Rieman will be conducting the first horsemanship clinic. Randy is a prominent and accomplished horseman and has spent the last 30 years making his living on horseback. After several years of working with some of this generations finest horsemen, Randy spent nine years starting hundreds of colts for the Parker Ranch in Hawaii. Our second Horsemanship Week will be led by Laurie Lukas, who has instructed youth and amateur exhibitors and trained horses for over 35 years. She has taught several university-level courses at Colorado State University, as well as at several community colleges. She has also traveled the country and world officiating many major shows, futurities, and Versatility Ranch Horse competitions. Laurie now owns and operates her business outside of Eaton, CO, and has been coming to Lost Valley Ranch to work with our guests for many years.
